Sannyasi Shiva Rishi (Shri NKTM Jeyagopal)
Sannyasi Shiva Rishi is the founder of the Satyananda Yoga Centre and the Satyananda Yoga Education Charitable Trust, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, which were founded in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
The Satyananda Yoga Centre, Chennai offers various yoga courses, including introductory and foundation courses, yoga for comprehensive child development and yoga for pregnant women, as well as many other courses on different aspects of yoga and spiritual life.
The Satyananda Yoga Education Charitable Trust, Chennai has undertaken projects aimed at the health, well-being and development of financially deprived children, needy cancer patients and children with exceptional needs, and has also published yoga books in Tamil.
Sannyasi Shiva Rishi began practising yoga in 1988, and since then yoga has played a major role in his life. He participated in courses under the guidance of Yogiraj Vethathri Maharishi in Tamil Nadu, and in 1995 met his sadguru Mahamaharishi Paranjothiyar, who inspired him to aid other spiritual seekers to transform their lives. In 2000 Shiva Rishi participated in a Satyananda Yoga Teachers Training Course, and in 2003 he graduated from the 4 month Certificate Course at Bihar School of Yoga, Munger. He has been teaching yoga for 20 years, conducting seminars and lectures on various aspects of yoga and yoga philosophy.
