Swami Gorakhnath Saraswati
Swami Gorakhnath is Acharya of the Shanti Darshan Ashram in Bokaro, Jharkhand and has been associated with the Satyananda Yoga movement for many decades.
He was introduced to yoga in 1967, and in 1969 he participated in the Yoga Convention at Bilaspur. Inspired by Sri Swami Satyananda’s satsang, he was prompted to journey more deeply into yoga and sannyasa.
In 1970 he left Bilaspur and came to the ashram at Bihar School of Yoga, Munger, and from 1970 to 1973 he participated in the first 3 Year Sannyasa Training Course. After the course he remained at the ashram, and was involved with Health Management Courses and Yoga Teacher Training Courses.
For the propagation of yoga, he went to Australia from 1975 to 1976, and from 1977 onwards he also visited many other countries and participated in various yoga conventions, events, courses and seminars, spreading the teachings of yoga.
Since 1992 Swami Gorakhnath has been the Acharya at Shanti Darshan Ashram in Bokaro, Jharkhand, and continues to visit Munger and Rikhia regularly and contribute to the work there.
