What to Bring

What to Bring

Clothing

Munger is a place of extreme climatic conditions. In the summer peak temperatures can be as high as 48°C and in the winter, temperatures may drop as low as 5°C. There is no heating or air conditioning in the classrooms and bedrooms other than electric ceiling fans. Students are, therefore, advised to bring loose, light clothing for summer and sufficient warm clothing for winter.

Dress code for all students

Students are required to appear in all classes and activities according to the BYB dress code, a cotton yoga practice outfit available for purchase from a local stockist.

Bedding

General Requirements

Students will be provided with a mattress and pillow and must bring their own bed sheets, pillow cover, mosquito net, rajai, blankets or sleeping bag and anything else they require.

Winter

Be prepared for cold winters: ensure that you have adequate winter bedding as the temperature can drop to 5°C at night from November to January. The institute cannot provide winter bedding. However, blankets and rajais (lightweight quilts) are available locally for purchase.

Overseas students

Overseas students are advised to bring their own sleeping bags if required as these are not available for purchase locally.

Personal items

Students are responsible for providing all items necessary for personal requirements, such as: toiletries, hat and sunglasses, water bottle, alarm clock, asana, mat or cushion for sitting, slip-on shoes, umbrella or raincoat, torch (for when no power is available), notebooks, pens, batteries, books, musical instruments, etc. Many of these items can be purchased locally in Munger.

Computers and Mobile Phones:
Please note that Bihar Yoga Bharati does not provide any facilities for computer users, nor is there any internet/email facility. Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the campus. If you bring a mobile phone you will be required to put it in the Safe Deposit for the duration of your stay.
